24 November Holiday: Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh to observe holiday on 28 November on account of Guru Tegh Bahadur Shahidi Diwas 2022

24 November Holiday: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh and the Chandigarh administration have declared holiday on November 28 to mark the Guru Teg Bahadur Shahidi Diwas, news agency ANI reported.

“Uttar Pradesh to observe a holiday on November 28 to mark the Guru Teg Bahadur Shahidi Diwas,” ANI Tweet read.

According to a notification issued by the Chandigarh Administration, all public offices will remain shut on November 28 to observe Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom day.

“Government holiday announced in Chandigarh for November 28 on the occasion of Guru Tegh Bahadur Jayanti. Notification issued by Chandigarh Administration,” ANI Tweet added.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth of the ten Sikh Gurus. He sacrificed his life to protect religion and human values, ideals and principles. He stood out from an early age for his qualities of sacrifice and valor. He was executed for supporting the religious freedom of Kashmiri Pandits on the orders of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, according to PIB. He is respected as Hind Ki Chaddar due to the supreme sacrifice.

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu in his message on the occasion of Martyrdom Day of Guru Teg Bahadur said that he sacrificed his life for the sake of dharma and that his sacrifice will be remembered for all times to come.

“I pay my homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur ji on the occasion of his Martyrdom Day. He is called ‘Hind ki Chadar’ as his martyrdom is seen as a sacrifice for the Humanity. Let us all take a pledge to adopt Guru Tegh Bahadur ji’s teachings of unity and brotherhood in our lives,” she said.
