Badaun. A police complaint has been lodged against a youth for killing a rat by drowning it on Friday in Sadar Kotwali area of Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Police has sent the dead rat’s body for postmortem. District President of ‘People for Animals’ Vikendra Sharma told that he saw on the way that after catching a rat, a young man tied a piece of stone to its tail and threw it into the drain. On this, Sharma jumped into the drain and pulled out the rat, but it died in a while.
According to police sources, Vikendra has given a tahrir to the Sadar Kotwali police under the Animal Cruelty Act. In this, he has mentioned that on Friday afternoon, when he was passing near the Gandhi Ground intersection of the city, a young man named Manoj Kumar was seen tying a stone to the tail of a rat and throwing it into the drain there.
Many inquiries went to the accused youth
It is being told that Vikendra immediately jumped into the drain and pulled out the rat, but it had died. On Bikendra Sharma’s Tahrir, Sadar Kotwali police sealed the body and sent it to Badaun’s veterinary hospital, but the staff there refused to do postmortem due to lack of resources. on the application of the plaintiff police Has sent the dead body of the rat to the IVRI located in Bareilly for postmortem.
Badaun Nagar’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Alok Mishra told that a complaint letter had come for killing a rat by drowning it in a drain, on which the accused Manoj Kumar was called to the police station and interrogated while taking immediate action. Legal action will be implemented against the accused after the postmortem report is received. Deputy Superintendent of Police Alok Mishra told that the rat does not come under the category of animal, so the Animal Cruelty Act will not apply.
