Cooperation of all political parties will be sought to ensure functioning during Parliament session
The winter session of Parliament will begin on December 7 and will end on December 29.
New Delhi. The government has called an all-party meeting on December 6 to ensure smooth functioning of the Parliament in the winter session. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal said on Friday, “The all-party meeting has been called on December 6 at 11 am.” He told that in this meeting (called by the government) to ensure smooth functioning during the Parliament session. For this cooperation of all political parties will be sought.
Significantly, the winter session of Parliament will start from December 7 and it will end on December 29. There will be 17 sittings in this session. Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have notified the dates by issuing separate notifications. The statement of the Lok Sabha Secretariat said that the tenth session of the 17th Lok Sabha will start from December 7 and it can end on December 29 according to the government work.
The session will be held in the old Parliament House only.
Sources said the session is likely to be held in the old Parliament building as the construction of the new building may drag on till the end of the year. Identical notifications issued by both the houses said, “Subject to the exigencies of government business, the session is likely to end on Thursday, December 29, 2022.” Before the commencement of the session, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha will call an all-party meeting to arrive at a consensus for the smooth functioning of both the Houses.
Many important topics will be discussed
The winter session usually begins in the third week of November and around 20 sittings take place during the session, but there are instances when the session was held in December in 2017 and 2018. A few days back, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi tweeted, “The winter session of Parliament will run from December 7 to December 29. There will be 17 meetings in this session of 23 days. Joshi had said that during the session in the amrit kaal of independence, I am hopeful of discussion on other subjects including legislative work.
