Guptill has scored a double century in ODI cricket
New Delhi: Recently, New Zealand’s dashing opener Martin Guptill has decided to leave the central contract, surprising everyone. He took this decision after missing the T20 and ODI series against India. The idea of Captain Kane Williamson has come to the fore after Guptill left the central contract. He says that he has not retired from international cricket. He will be available to play cricket just like James Neesham.
Williamson said before the start of the ODI match against India, ‘Guptill has not retired. He is considering playing in other tournaments while he is available. He is very motivated to play better. And I think it is important for all the players. He has played excellent cricket for a long time. They have now decided to explore some new options.
He further said, ‘He may not have got a chance to play in the team. But he helped other players. He has been brilliant in every field. But yes as I said earlier also that he has not retired yet.
Please tell that Martin Guptill is not the first player who has left the contract. Earlier, bowler Trent Boult and all-rounder Colin de Grand Homme had also distanced themselves from it. Guptill has scored more than 3000 runs in ODI cricket. He has also registered a double century in ODI cricket.
