IND vs NZ: Will Umran Malik and Sanju Samson get a chance in the first ODI? Playing-11 can be like this

highlights

Captain Dhawan and Gill are set to play as openers
Arshdeep Singh did well in T20 series

New Delhi. The Indian team is ready for the ODI series under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan. The 3-match series between India and New Zealand (IND vs NZ) is starting tomorrow i.e. 25th November. Earlier, India won 1-0 in the T20 series against the host Kiwi team. In such a situation, the team would like to maintain this rhythm. However, a lot of players have changed in the ODI team as compared to T20. But the biggest question is whether Umran Malik and Sanju Samson will get a chance in the ODI series or not. Both the players did not get a chance in any match of the T20 series.

Talking about the first ODI, then Captain Dhawan and Shubman Gill are sure to open. In the past, both had done well with the bat in Zimbabwe. With Virat Kohli not being in the team, Shreyas Iyer is certain to play at number-3. Suryakumar Yadav will land there at number-4. He is in excellent form with the bat this year. In the second T20 against New Zealand, he played an excellent inning of 111 not out.

Pant’s play decided, Hooda or Samson
Rishabh Pant has been made the vice-captain of the ODI team. In such a situation, he has been able to land at number-5. There will be a fight between Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson for number-6. Off-spinner Hooda proved himself by taking 4 wickets in the second T20. In such a situation, he has a heavy upper hand. As an all-rounder, either Shahbaz Ahmed or Washington Sundar can get a chance. While talking about fast bowlers, Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are sure to play.

Arshdeep Singh showed a great game in the last match of the T20 series. In such a situation, once again Umran may have to sit outside. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal can get a place in the team for the first ODI. Overall, it will not be easy for captain Dhawan and coach VVS Laxman to choose playing-11 for the first match.
