Mumbai. Late actor Irrfan Khan Babil Khan’s son is also making a career in Bollywood following his father’s footsteps. He is going to start his acting career with the upcoming film ‘Kala’. The trailer of the film has been released which is still impressing the audience. Meanwhile, Babil talked about his upcoming film and his debut. In his recent interview, he has expressed his objection to words like ‘debut’ and ‘launch’. Along with this, he also claimed that if he was not the son of Star Kid i.e. Irrfan Khan, no one would have cared about him.
The film ‘Kala (Qala)’ is a singing based film. It has Tripti Dimri as the lead actress. This film is being made under the banner of Anushka Sharma’s company Clean Slate Films. It has been directed by Anvita Dutt. The film is all set to release on 1 December on the OTT platform Netflix.
If Irrfan Khan didn’t have a son, no one would have cared
In a conversation with Film Companion, Babil answered a question and said, “If I was not Irrfan Khan’s son, no one would have cared about my debut. I would just be an actor trying to get into films, give auditions and maybe get a part. Getting recognition through your work is more than just inheriting recognition. I think the words ‘debut’ and ‘launch’ always make the person bigger than the story and the film.”
He further added, “From the beginning, I want to respect my mother’s upbringing. When I got the film, I was happy that I am playing a supporting role in a female lead film, it is very important for me. He further said, ‘I do not feel at all comfortable with words like ‘debut’ and ‘launch’. Why would an artist want that? I just don’t know. That’s not me. This hurts me a bit.
Remind you that Irrfan Khan died in April 2020 after a two-year-long battle with neuroendocrine tumour. After the death of his father, Babil keeps sharing his old memories on social media. Apart from Babil, Irrfan’s family also has his younger son Ayaan Khan.
