Layoffs of thousands of workers started in Amazon, sword hanging on devices, retail and HR units

Global e-commerce company Amazon has told that it has laid off workers from its devices group. The company plans to cut around 10,000 jobs. These will include retail and human resources divisions. Many companies in the technology sector have laid off in the last few weeks. These include Facebook and Twitter.

In a blog post, Amazon executive Dave Limp Told That the company has decided to reduce the size of its devices unit. “We are facing an uncertain macro economic situation. We have over the past few months focused more on the areas that are most important to our customers and business,” he added. The number of workers of the company is about three lakhs. The company plans to reduce it by about three percent. Voice assistant Alexa is one of the top-selling Amazon devices. However, company founder Jeff Bezos says that these devices are sold at a discount and it is sometimes less than the cost.

Recently, Bezos had told that he is planning to give a large part of his wealth of billions of dollars to charity. Bezos, the world’s fourth-richest person, is estimated to have a net worth of over $124 billion. Out of his donation, a large amount will be spent on efforts to deal with climate change. Apart from this, they will also give help to such people who are working to unite humanity amidst social and political divisions. Bezos, who resigned as Amazon’s chief executive officer in July last year, has about 10 percent of the company’s total shareholding. Bezos also owns the newspaper Washington Post and aerospace company Blue Origin.

The company that runs the popular social media site Facebook meta More than 11,000 employees will also be laid off. This is about 13 per cent of the total workforce of the company. This is one of the biggest layoffs at tech companies this year. Meta is facing difficulties like rising cost and weakness in advertisements.
