Odisha: 2 Maoists killed in encounter with security forces, ammunition recovered

Bhubaneswar. Two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces on Thursday in Gandhamardan hill area of ​​Odisha’s Bolangir district. A senior police officer gave this information. The encounter took place in the forest adjacent to Jal Mahadev temple under Khaparkhol police station area. Odisha’s Special Operations Force (SOG) and Bolangir District Volunteer Force (DVF) during a joint search operation here spotted a Maoist camp and an encounter ensued.

Two Maoists were killed on 11 November
The senior official told PTI that the Maoists fired at the security forces, which was retaliated by the COG and DVF personnel, in which two Maoists were killed. The police officer said, “Two bodies have been recovered and the search operation is on. We will be able to give details only after the bodies are brought down from the hill.” Some arms and ammunition have been seized from the Maoist camp. Significantly, on November 11, two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Koraput district.

650 active Maoist supporters surrender
On the other hand, on November 6, 650 active Maoist supporters living in villages located on the border of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh surrendered before the police. According to media reports, most of the Maoist supporters are members of local village committees or Chetna Natya Mandali of Swabhiman Anchal in Malkangiri district, which was once a red corridor cut off from mainland Odisha. Please tell that Chetna Natya Mandali is a cultural organization associated with the Communist Party of India.

On Tuesday evening, a large Maoist dump was busted near the Andhra Pradesh border in the forest of Dhakadpadar village under Jodamba police limits of Malkangiri district in Odisha. During this, weapons, explosives, IEDs and other objectionable materials were recovered by the police. Among the recovered items, a country-made pistol, 16 kg Tiffin IED, four hand-made Codex wires, one HR grenade, two hand grenades, two detonators, two electronic detonator wires, empty detonators were recovered.
