Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has exposed a scam of Rs 5 crore in the Atta-Dal scheme under the campaign against corruption in the state. In this alleged scam, VB has registered an FIR against Naveen Kumar Garg, General Manager of Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (Punsup).

A spokesman of the Vigilance Bureau said that during the investigation of this scam, the bureau found that during the distribution of flour and pulses under the ‘Ata Dal Scheme’ in the year 2015-16, Naveen Kumar directly deposited Rs 5 crore to the government exchequer. Damaged more than Under this scheme, instead of depositing Rs 43,74,98,681 in UCO Bank’s account, he got only Rs 38,38,88,711 deposited. In this way, the accused embezzled Rs 536,09,970 in connivance with other employees of Pansap.

Question on appointment of manager
Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said that convict Naveen Kumar, during his tenure in Pansap, falsified the charge sheets of different employees of the department ignoring the prescribed service rules of Punjab. Due to which the state government suffered a loss of Rs 64,64,36,854. He said that during the investigation it has also come to light that Naveen Kumar did not have the requisite qualification and experience to be selected as the manager of Pansap, but still he was successful in getting selected as the manager while the rest The candidates were disqualified.

In this regard, Vigilance Bureau has registered a case under Section 409, 420, 465, 468, 471 of IPC and Section 13 (1) (a) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau Police Station SAS Nagar. . He told that further investigation of the matter is going on and teams have been sent to arrest the said accused.
